We have it within our capacity to develop our earthly
nations renewably. But not by maintaining the status quo, or worse...
Continuing poor harvesting practices for coal and oil. Romney loves Coal. He
wants to get coal cities back on track. Let us never mind the sordid history of
disease, poverty, labor and union disputes; or men who put their lives on the
line while cities go bankrupt. Then, there's oil. Lets drill in Alaska and the
Arctic. Never mind the BP Oil spill was less than 2 years ago and oil companies
themselves admit to not having the resources to manage catastrophes that
potentially cause thousands of years of environmental disaster.
who has made absolutely no clear, official statement on what
his policy is regarding energy, or environment, short of, "I'm all for
clean energy, and clean coal, and clean oil, and clean.... ...
""" What is "Clean Coal" exactly? It is
coal burning with carbon and capture storage that they say is 90% less harmful
than current practices. Carbon capture and Storage is a term used to
propagate company’s usage and safeguarding of coal underground to limit co2
emissions. It does not necessitate the means within whereby coal is harvested
and byproducts disposed. There's a lot of land to dig through before coal,
"fossil fuel", can be extracted. And that land is disposed of as a
waste, in water sources. And these lands where within we harvest this "clean
coal" does not grow back. It is the literal antithesis of renewable... But
yes, a convenient short term energy supply, unless you live the Appalachians.
2nd, imports to South America. America’s number
one import to South America is machinery. And I want to be clear; it’s very
specific machinery. South American deforestation has risen by a factor of 20%
in the last 10 years. During that time South American exports to America have
increased in equal measure. 40% of their total exports are to America. South
America is also on the verge of building the second largest hydroelectric dam
in the world under largely big business American influence. This dam will
displace some 20,000 indigenous people, and cause deforestation and flooding,
down the length of the 1,230 mile river. Without proper disposal of the land
and due to its highly humid climate, this will cause a methane release into the
atmosphere that is unheard of. Methane is 20 times more effective at trapping heat in the atmosphere than that of carbon dioxide. Extinction of endangered species as well as
widespread disease will be the result. These business positions are highly
lucrative for America, for the short term, but do nothing for the sanctity of
the land, or the safeguarding of it’s people, nor does it help an economically
challenged South America. Governor Romney lastly champions small business. What
he means by “small business” is tax cuts for large business with “small
business” subsidiaries. As for his education plan… Umm.. He doesn’t have one.
We are a fortunate and wealthy society. Even with our
economic decline, we consume more than any nation ever in the history of our
species; immeasurably more in the last Century. Politically, we think it ok to balk
at a leader investing in renewable energy, an emerging, overlooked science. Go
back! We say.. That's what worked before.. That's what made us rich. When these
energy consortiums fail, we say, No More!! We need that Money. What money? Our
Fiat Currency is backed by nothing. Either we find a cheaper resource to feed
us, or the worlds economy will collapse. There is no looking back. We are a
joint nation of the world whether we acknowledge it or not and the future is
grim. Choose your leaders wisely.. Observe their motives, intentions, and their
integrity, because a nation, in this critical time, which does not look to its
everlasting future, may be the cause of its global destruction. Nations rise
and fall, they have throughout history. However, what we face now, is a matter
global balance, and the United States plays the largest hand. It only took 4.5
Billion years for intelligence to evolve here... It'd be an awful thing to waste.
